No, that is the beauty of local travel nursing. You can continue living at your current home and commute to your contract’s location. If your shifts are multiple days in a row, some travelers suggest booking a hotel room in that city to reduce the amount of commuting.

Do I always have to drive home after my shift?
No, driving home afterwards is all up to you. Many travelers, if they have shifts multiple days in a row, will book a hotel room to stay at.

Do I need special certifications?
Some assignments may require extra certifications like ACLS, BLS, or PALS. Keeping your certifications current ensures you have the widest range of opportunities.

Does my license work in other states?
If your home is located near a bordering state, you may be able to work in that state for in-state style contracts. If your license is from an NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact) state, you can travel and work in any other NLC state without needing a new license. If your license is from a non-NLC state, don’t worry—we can assist with licensing fees to help you get started.
