TWO legends this month!
Travel nursing can create long-lasting friendships and ICU nurses Heather and Jayme know this best. These nurses met working in the ICU a few years ago, became fast friends, and since then, have even gone on a few adventures together!
These friends met up again recently at work when Heather began her contract with Mader MedX and shortly after referred her friend Jayme to join the team! Thanks to their experience and skill we were able to place them at the same hospital so they could join forces again! Traveling is always more fun when you bring a friend!

Jayme is an experienced ICU nurse whose love of travel inspired her to take the leap into travel nursing years ago and has since completed multiple travel contracts around the US. Jayme treats everyone she meets with kindness and respect and was an easy choice for LOM!

About Heather
Heather is a highly skilled ICU nurse who cares for the sickest patients in the hospital, one of her favorite parts about her job are all of the lifelong friends she has made along the way! Her great attitude and willingness to be flexible (willingness to go with the flow?) are a few of the many reasons she was chosen to be one of our Mader MedX LOM.

What inspired you to start travel nursing?
Heather
What inspired me to start travel nursing is the freedom, flexibility and the opportunity to meet new people and experience life in other parts of the states, see what each place has to offer and just take in the beauty of the sights of outdoors.
Jayme
I have always liked to travel and visit new places, so the opportunity to get paid while being able to explore a new place was right up my alley.

What is your biggest piece of advice to fellow clinicians interested in starting their travel journey?
Heather
Always be professional, trustworthy have a positive attitude even when things are tough because they will get tough. Be open minded, flexible and be comfortable with constant change as well as have the ability to learn new skill set fast. Most importantly, take care of yourself and take time off for “me time”

Take the leap. You get past the nerves and the job is very rewarding.

What has been your favorite part about working in the Shreveport, LA area?
Heather
My favorite part about working in Shreveport has been my coworkers and manager! I have really been blessed with a great set of people on my rotation. Coworkers/managers can definitely make or break your experience at a facility!
Jayme
I loved building comradery with my co-workers and meeting new people.

What has been your most memorable experience as a travel nurse?
Heather
Most memorable experiences as a traveler. Honestly, all the great experiences and memories I’ve made with the people I met along the the way have turn into life long friends. They just so happen to be spaced out all over the USA now and I love that!
Jayme
I met Vaughn Mugol on a contract! He would sing to the patients and us nurses. He actually went on The Voice and was chosen as a contestant. It was amazing to work with someone who was able to express his love of nursing and music to the world and say, “I worked with him!”

What has been the best part about working with Mader MedX?
Heather
Out of all of the companies and corporations I’ve worked for including as a staff Rn. I can honestly say that I’ve enjoyed my time here with Mader MedX the most because they are so personal and take the time to actually get to know each of their employees and make you feel like an actual person who is a part of the team and not just a employee or a number on a list.
Jayme
The communication. I have never worked for a company that put such value in my words, my comfort level at a job, and my needs. Mader MedX has by far exceeded my expectations for any travel company.
