What inspired you to start travel nursing?
I started traveling because I wanted more control over my schedule and time off. When you work in a conventional job you are at the mercy of your colleagues and seniority. With travel, it allows more flexibility with time off requests and schedules. I also wanted to expand my knowledge of the field and travel to different locations that I normally would not. So far, I have learned so much more than I would have at a conventional job. I love that I get to meet new people and expand my friend circle.

What is your biggest piece of advice to fellow clinicians interested in starting their travel journey?
I would tell anyone who is considering travel to just take the leap. I was never a person that liked change, but travel has changed that for me. I absolutely love meeting new people and learning different skills from everyone that I come in contact with.

What has been your favorite part about working in the town you're in?
My favorite part of working in Columbus has been exploring what the city has to offer and what my colleagues recommend. Columbus is the total opposite of my hometown of Cadiz, which is a small rural town.

What has been your most memorable experience as a travel nurse?
The most memorable thing about travel thus far is being appreciated and being reminded of this daily. We travelers are offering assistance to facilities that are struggling with staffing for one reason or another and our colleagues do not forget to remind us daily how much they appreciate our help. This is very fulfilling and reminds us why we do what we do.
